Frequently Asked Questions...
Does wattage indicate power?
I have a number of Kitchenaid stand mixers, that range from 4.5 quart to 6 quart. The wattages on these mixers varies. What is most confusing is the 5 and 6 qt mixers seem to have less pure power in mixing than the 4.5 quart machine. This leads me to believe that the 250 watt rating of my 4.5 quart mixer has nothing to do with actual power, compared to the 325 watt rating of my 5 quart mixer, which can actually stall while mixing the exact, same amount of bread dough as the 4.5 quart.
So what is the purpose of the wattage ratings if not to indicate power. Energy is not the same as power, which I believe is the purpose of indicating the number of watts.
Answer:
yes wattage is synonymous with power in electrical terms, but there is more involved than wattage in your predicament, if you mean raw mechanical power then there are other factors... such as design, gearing, motor type, speed etc.
